 Treat Me

There is no greater gift than your company; however, if you're the type who enjoys spoiling a charming gal, I graciously accept thoughtfully chosen gifts of the more tangible variety. I've listed a number of suggestions below, but I also appreciate objects of your choosing as well.

If you're not sure about size (indeed, women's clothing is notoriously difficult to fit without the recipient trying it), a gift card is quite versatile and always appreciated! If we've met before and you'd like to mail me a gift of your own selection, simply reach out and ask for my shipping address.

A few of my preferred shops are listed below. Whenever possible, I love to support local, independently-owned and/or ethical & sustainable businesses, but I also maintain an Amazon wishlist for ease of gifting/shipping.

Philanthropy

As much as I enjoy receiving gifts, there is nothing more touching than a donation made to one of the many causes I support. If you share my philanthropic tendencies and would like to make a contribution to one of the below organizations in my name, I would be very grateful.

  • Humane Rescue Alliance

Humane Rescue Alliance works to connect homeless pets with loving homes while also offering adoption, training, and medical services for local animal rescue providers and shelters as well as pet owners. A tenacious advocate for animals, building an alliance that can tackle the systemic challenges facing animals in our region and beyond, with the goal of saving more lives.

  • HIPS

HIPS promotes the health, rights, and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by sexual exchange and/or drug use due to choice, coercion, or circumstance. HIPS provides compassionate harm reduction services, advocacy, and community engagement that is respectful, non-judgmental, and affirms and honors individual power and agency.

  • Trans Lifeline

Trans Lifeline is a grassroots hotline and microgrants 501(c)(3) non-profit organization offering direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis – for the trans community, by the trans community. We envision a world where trans people have the connection, economic security, and care everyone needs and deserves – free of prisons and police.

  • World Central Kitchen

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. WCK has served more than 60 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world and is currently supporting relief efforts in Ukraine.

  • The DC Abortion Fund

The DC Abortion Fund makes grants to pregnant people who cannot afford the full cost of an abortion. We face a multitude of state and national restrictions designed to deny access to abortion care. These restrictions disproportionately affect low-income people. We hope to make “choice” a reality because we believe a person’s right to health care should not depend on her wallet.

  • Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières cares for people affected by conflict, disease outbreaks, natural and human-made disasters, and exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries. We provide independent, impartial medical humanitarian assistance to the people who need it most, irrespective of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation.
